MARCIAC
Chic et unique
Paris may tempt you with its avant-garde scene and
jumping venues like the Caveau de la Huchette, but
venture further south and you’ll 昀椀nd a festival to
freshen your palate. B.B. King, Ray Charles, and Kool
& the Gang have all settled in for a taste of Marciac’s
atmosphere, as this sleepy small town puts on one
of the most relaxed jazz festivals you could wish for.
Marciac has a vast central square for a fortnight of
performances, framed by the ramparts of its medieval
bastide. This year, Feu! Chatterton is staging an
electrifying return, while Baptiste Trotignon strips it
all back and Sting stops in on his world tour.
Fly into Pau Pyrénées Airport (PUF) and settle into
the boutique surroundings of Gardères, with private
poolside performances on request.
UMBRIA
Heritage and the next generation
Still going strong after 昀椀ve decades, Umbria Jazz
is a modest but no less magical festival. The vibe
is celebrating past greats while inspiring the next
generation. Luminaries like Dizzy Gillespie, Stan
Getz, and, interestingly, Liza Minnelli, have played
over the years. 2026 honors the centennial of Miles
Davis and John Coltrane with a series of exceptional
concerts led by Terence Blanchard and Ravi Coltrane.
Sustainable practices take the lead in a wholesome,
family atmosphere, where children are not only
welcomed but encouraged, and aspiring artists can
grow in con昀椀dence in Berklee jazz clinics.
Fly into Perugia Airport (PEG) and retreat to
the incomparable private country estate
of Tenuta di Murlo.
